“One thing is for certain: there is no stopping them; the ants will soon be here. I for one welcome our new ant overlords. I’d like to remind them as a trusted TV personality blogger, I can be helpful in rounding up others to toil in their underground sugar caves.”

Obvious, I do realize.

The odd thing is that we’ve known about this for years, and (IIRC), the Spanish super-colony has been covered by the BBC in the past too.

Apparently someone went back to Argentina a few years ago to look at the colonies there, and found a mix of supercolony behaviour and more normal behaviour. The explanation for this was that free-loaders eventually evolve in supercolonies, and that causes the supercolony to collapse. And then it evolves elsewhere, and collapses etc. etc.

Oh, and I’m not going to welcome them until they apologise for the Hand of God incident.

    @ Bob O’H

Oh, and I’m not going to welcome them until they apologise for the Hand of God incident.

It will be interesting to see how many American readers get that joke.

I shan’t cry for them or for Argentina, 2 -1 or not.
