Just a brief notice that Aage Niels Bohr, son of Nils Bohr, died on September 8th at the age of 87. In 1975 he was awarded the Nobel Prize for Physics – along with James Rainwater and Ben Mottelson – for “the discovery of the connection between collective motion and particle motion in atomic nuclei and the development of the theory of the structure of the atomic nucleus based on this connection.”

I’ve just been putting together a database of postwar American physicists, and was thinking of Aage Bohr specifically in trying to figure out how to incorporate information on non-American physicists into the pages on the narratives of different lines of research.
