Poe or No

January 19, 2010

And while we are talking about Galileo … here’s a comment from someone called “yum install jesus” over at PT:

MACROEVOLUTIONISTS THINK BECAUSE THEY CAN SEE DOTS ON THE TELESCOPE MOVING BACK AND FORTH AGAINST THE BACKGROUND OF JUPITER THAT JUPITER DOESN’T REVOLVE AROUND THE EARTH BUT INSTEAD REVOLVES AROUND THE SUN AND THAT THE EARTH DOES TOO–WHAT A MORONIC NON-SEQUITUR! IF THE EARTH WAS REVOLVING AROUND THE SUN WE WOULD BE THROWN OFF! WHAT A BUNCH OF MORONS!

I’m not sure whether to invoke Poe’s Law or not. They do link to this though.

IMO, “yum install Jesus” is a garden variety troll who is only posting to make trouble. He would probably go away if (1) people would simply stop feeding him and (2) his posts were summarily deleted. He’s probably laughing his butt off every time he logs in to PT.

If it’s a Poe it’s a remarkably determined one. In the several cases of its blog comments I’ve seen it alters content to be (sort of) context-appropriate.

I followed the link as well. I can’t make my mind up if it is a Poe or not. The volume of stuff on the website and the ‘imagination’ required to make it up makes me thing that this guy – and it must be a guy – is probably for real.
Some one probably should point him in the direction of a decent tutorial on website design before he sends anyone else blind.

Yes, there are people who actually believe that sort of thing. They are known as, “whack jobs”. We are talking about schizophrenics with 15mg a day Abilify habits. We’re talking about people who not only believe that the Bible is the Word of God, but that God wrote it under their direction.

Kellogg’s Corollary to Poe’s Law: No sane person can ever compose anything as delusional as what a nutjob can.
