  1. It’s hard to think one’s way into what it must be like to think, `a bunch of our little group here with the cold saltwater soaking our undies, carrying all this stuff on our backs, are not going to be alive in a few minutes.’

  2. these guys walked into the most concentrated barrage of rifle, machinegun mortar and artillery fire ever. They went in knowing full well what the danger was. but they did it anyway. My hat’s off to them all, Americans, British, Canadian, Free French, Polish and others.
